The Africa Institute Global Africa Translation Fellowship 2026

The Africa Institute invites applications for the Global Africa Translation Fellowship as part of its African Languages and Translation Program. The non-residential fellowship supports translation projects related to African and African Diaspora studies and aims to make significant texts accessible to a wider global readership. Funding is provided to support the proposed translation work, and fellows undertake their project outside The Africa Institute, Global Studies University (Sharjah, UAE).

Funding to support translation projects; non-residential fellowship

Open to applicants from across the Global South. Projects may include retranslations of classic texts, untranslated works, poetry, prose, or collections of critical theory.

Submit a two-page CV, a two-page summary of the translation project, a 4–5-page sample with original text and translation, and an explanation of copyright status.
