Institut Francais Open Call for Applications from Immersive Artist Teams 2026

The project invites immersive artists in South Africa, Lesotho and Malawi to apply for Futures_Past: Amplifying Memory with Immersive Technologies, a funding and development initiative focused on archival and cultural storytelling using immersive media. Selected teams will receive financial support, mentorship, access to archives, and opportunities for exhibition and mobility networking with French immersive arts institutions and festivals.

Financial support for production, mentorship, access to archives, mobility and networking opportunities with French institutions, and exhibition opportunities.

Teams must comprise at least four roles (director, technologist lead, producer, and a trainee assistant producer under 30) with three years of experience each in their field; the director must be from or based in the country of the archive.
