Shawki Saad PhD Scholarship 2026/2027

The Shawki Saad PhD Scholarship is a fully funded opportunity for pursuing a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London. It provides a full overseas tuition waiver and a minimum annual stipend of £22,000, for one award in the 2026/2027 session. The scholarship targets researchers from Sub-Saharan Africa and supports research addressing regional challenges in infrastructure, sustainability, and climate resilience.

Full tuition coverage and a stipend for living expenses; access to Imperial College London facilities and supervisory support.

Open exclusively to applicants ordinarily resident in Sub-Saharan Africa, holding a First Class or Upper Second Class degree (or international equivalent) in engineering or a numerate discipline, having already completed a Master’s degree, and applicants must be prospective students (continuing students are not eligible).

Identify a supervisor in Civil and Environmental Engineering, obtain their interest and nomination, submit the PhD application through Imperial’s admissions system, and secure supervisor nomination by the deadline (2 March 2026).
