The Mechanical Engineer – CMS Innermost Region is a paid engineering position at CERN responsible for the design, prototyping, construction and integration of mechanical structures and services for the innermost region of the CMS detector. Duties include 3D modelling, thermo-mechanical analysis, procurement oversight, supervision of assembly and integration, and participation in installation and commissioning. The role contributes to work on beam-pipe support structures, tracker bulkheads, luminosity and background monitors and associated services ahead of the LHC Long Shutdown 3. The position involves on-site work at CERN including interventions in underground installations and possible shift and night work.
Leistungen
Minimum net entry salary of 9,236 CHF/month; 30 days paid leave plus 2 weeks annual closure; CERN health insurance for employee, spouse and children; membership of CERN Pension Fund; family, child and infant allowances; relocation package (installation grant, removal, travel) depending on circumstances; possibility to extend contract up to 8 years and eligibility for indefinite contract tenure.
Teilnahmevoraussetzungen
Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member State or Associate Member State (certain nationalities are excluded as stated) and have relevant qualifications and professional experience; a Master's degree or equivalent experience in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. Candidates who previously held a Staff contract at CERN are not eligible for these positions.
