machen! Wettbewerb

The machen! Wettbewerb is an ideas competition for civic engagement in East Germany that awards prize money for project ideas improving local communities. It targets projects in small and mid-sized municipalities and recognises initiatives across three categories: Lebensräume gestalten, NextGen engagiert and Brücken bauen. An independent jury evaluates submissions and selects prize winners.

Monetary prizes ranging from €2,500 to €10,000; recognition by an independent jury and visibility in Berlin with the top 100 projects.

Non-profit organisations such as associations, foundations, cooperatives or non-profit companies with a seat in Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt or Thuringia. The project must be implemented in a municipality with up to 50,000 inhabitants.
