John Hirshman Endowed Travel Award

The John Hirshman Endowed Travel Award is a scholarship for University of New South Wales medical students undertaking an elective placement. It is available to students in the final year of the Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) who undertake the MFAC3514 Elective in a developing country during the Summer break or Summer Teaching Period 2026/2027 with Faculty approval. Applicants are assessed on academic merit, leadership, extra-curricular activities and aptitude and commitment to health or medical practice in a developing country. UNSW reserves the right not to award the scholarship if no applicant of sufficient merit is identified.

Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time in the final year of the Bachelor of Medicine (BMed) or Doctor of Medicine (MD) and undertaking MFAC3514 Elective in a developing country during Summer break or Summer Teaching Period 2026/2027, with Faculty approval for the country of placement.
