BIGSSS Regular PhD Program

The BIGSSS Regular PhD Program is a structured doctoral programme run by the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences in partnership with the University of Bremen and Constructor University Bremen. It offers a cohort-based, research-focused PhD track in social sciences and related fields with supervised training, access to partner university facilities, and funding for research and conference participation. The programme is supported by the German Excellence Initiative and provides a 36-month funding package and academic mentoring. Instruction and working language is English.

Monthly allowance of 1,300 EUR; employment contract or renewable scholarship up to 36 months; additional research and travel grants; funding for conference participation; supervised mentoring and access to university resources.

Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences or a related discipline, submit an excellent doctoral research proposal aligned with the school's themes, demonstrate full proficiency in English, and commit to residing in Bremen for the duration of the programme.
