Traineeship in Statistics and Data Science

The Traineeship in Statistics and Data Science is a paid traineeship within the European Central Bank's Directorate General Statistics. It offers hands-on work collecting, validating, managing and publishing macroeconomic and granular datasets and contributing to statistical indicators and data-management tools. Trainees work in a multicultural team under the guidance of a mentor and may participate in conceptual and empirical studies, including applications of AI and data-visualisation techniques. The initial traineeship period is six months with a possible extension to up to twelve months and a start date in 2027.

Monthly trainee grant (€1,170) and an accommodation allowance; mentorship and professional experience in ECB statistics and data management.

EU nationals eligible for the ECB traineeship programme; applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field and meet language and technical skill requirements.
