Alberta Foundation for the Arts Art Acquisitions by Application Program

The Art Acquisitions by Application Program enables the Alberta Foundation for the Arts to acquire artworks directly from eligible professional artists for its permanent collection. Instead of providing a project grant, the programme supports artists through the purchase of completed artworks, which may then be exhibited, included in travelling programs and showcased online. The programme focuses on areas including Indigenous arts, visual arts, and new media and aims to increase public access to diverse works across Alberta.

Direct purchase payment for artworks; inclusion in the Alberta Foundation for the Arts permanent collection; visibility via exhibitions, travelling programs and online showcases; professional recognition.

Professional artists who are residents of Alberta; individual artists and eligible ensembles. Focus areas include Indigenous arts, visual arts, and new media.
