Data Science Summer Institute (DSSI)

The Data Science Summer Institute (DSSI) is a summer internship-style research program hosted by Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory's Data Science Institute. Participants are paired with LLNL staff scientists and engineers as mentors to work on supervised research projects, attend seminars and short courses, and take part in team challenge problems relevant to the Lab's mission. The program includes project presentation opportunities and virtual or in-person tours of LLNL facilities.

Mentorship from LLNL staff scientists and engineers, a structured research project, seminars and short courses, participation in team challenge problems, facility tours (virtual or in-person), and a final presentation opportunity.

The program is for student interns; participants are paired with mentors and work on projects. Past classes are referred to (for example, "DSSI class of 2023").
