Humanities and Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (HAVI) — Research Grants

The Humanities and Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (HAVI) funds research teams to develop and apply artificial intelligence methods to humanities disciplines such as archaeology, history, literature and related fields. Schmidt Sciences will support projects that create or adapt AI models to work with ancient and low-resource languages, three-dimensional artifacts, film and multimodal archives, and remote-sensing data for archaeology. The program awards multi-team grants and seeks to open new avenues for historical and cultural scholarship through AI-enabled methods.

Research grant funding to support development and application of AI methods for humanities research; participation in a cohort of selected teams.

Research teams and researchers around the world working at the intersection of AI and the humanities may apply; teams are selected after review by Schmidt Sciences and external experts.
