Theos J. (Tommy) Thompson Award

The Theos J. (Tommy) Thompson Award recognises outstanding lifetime contributions to the field of nuclear reactor safety. The award is presented by the chair of the Nuclear Installations Safety Division (NISD) during the ANS Winter Conference and consists of a plaque and a monetary prize. Nominees need not be members of the American Nuclear Society. The award is funded by the operating budget of NISD.

The award is made to individuals in recognition of outstanding contributions in the field of nuclear reactor safety; nominees need not be ANS members.

Nominations submitted via the nomination form; must include nominator letter, ~1,000-word narrative summary, publication list (if applicable), brief chronological resume, and letters of support (recommended, up to five).
