Fulbright Research Grant with FLAD Support 2027/2028

The Fulbright Research Grant with FLAD support is a competitively awarded scholarship for master's students at Portuguese universities to undertake a research stay of up to four months at a university or research centre in the United States. The grant covers research-related funding, travel support and health/visa assistance and integrates recipients into the global Fulbright alumni network. All fields of study are eligible.

USD 10,000 research grant; USD 1,000 travel allowance; complementary health and accident insurance; assistance with J-1 visa documents and waiver of visa fee; pre-departure orientation; support from Fulbright and IIE; opportunities to attend Fulbright seminars and activities; integration in Fulbright global network.

Portuguese nationals who are master’s students at a Portuguese higher education institution, have completed a bachelor’s degree before applying, have good English, and have agreement from the US host institution and their master’s coordination/supervisor. Additional restrictions apply regarding prior Fulbright awards, prior US residency, dual Portuguese-US nationality, and US residence/visa status.
