The IJP German-Japanese Fellowship Programme 2026 offers a two-month fellowship stay abroad for journalists from Japan and Germany. It focuses on geopolitics, economics, environment/energy/climate policy, and emerging technologies, with encouragement for projects addressing demographic change, migration, and Germany’s role in the EU. Each fellow receives a lump sum to cover part of travel, accommodation, personal expenses, and health insurance, with additional costs borne personally; compensation from host media outlets is not provided.

Leistungen

Lump sum of 4,200 EUR for travel, accommodation and personal expenses, plus qualified health insurance for the visit abroad.

Teilnahmevoraussetzungen

Open to all journalists between 28 and 40 years of age who work as freelancers or as permanent employees for Japanese media organizations.
