Wharton High School Data Science Competition

A high school data science competition hosted by the Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative in conjunction with Wharton Global Youth. The 2026 theme centered on ice hockey, challenging student teams to analyze simulated World Hockey League data and build models to evaluate team strength, predict outcomes, and visualize relationships. The competition culminates in judged submissions and awards for top teams.

Prizes include 1st/2nd/3rd place trophies, certificates, swag; 1st place opportunities to attend Moneyball Academy: Training Camp, or enrollment in select Global Youth Program Online Courses free of charge; virtual access to a Moneyball Academy guest speaker session for 2nd place teams.
