Undergraduate Summer Research Scholarship (UGSRS) Program

A summer research scholarship program run by the Department of Chemistry at Missouri S&T for S&T chemistry undergraduate students. Approximately five scholarships of $4,000 are anticipated, with no more than one awardee per research group. The program supports eight weeks of focused chemistry research during the S&T summer session 2026. Selected students must enroll in one credit hour of Chemistry 4099 during the summer.

Open to S&T chemistry undergraduate majors at all levels; preference given to students with prior undergraduate research experience (FYRE and/or OURE), experiential learning research, enrollment in Chemistry 4099, or work with faculty on grant-supported research.

Prospective student finds a research adviser who emails a nomination to Dr. Jeff Winiarz including: (1) one-page project description, (2) current resume, and (3) brief description of mentoring plans; if dates differ, include a timeline and justification.
