Ritag Mohamed wins Bronze Honour twice in IAAC and reaches top ranks

Ritag Mohamed has turned an early interest in space and engineering into repeated recognition through IAAC. The Egyptian participant won Bronze Honour in 2025 and again in 2026, placing 3rd in Egypt and 8th worldwide.

Their own account shows a path shaped by curiosity and steady involvement across several science projects. Mohamed found IAAC on Instagram and later returned to the competition, adding another Bronze Honour the following year.

“I found IAAC on Instagram, entered it twice in 2025, and won Bronze Honour.”

Repeated recognition

The two awards stand out because they show consistency rather than a single strong result. Mohamed entered IAAC twice in 2025 and won Bronze Honour, then repeated the result in 2026 while improving the national and global ranking.

That pattern suggests persistence in a field where progress often depends on long hours, careful preparation and a willingness to try again. Mohamed did not describe the process in detail, but the repeated success points to a participant who kept building on earlier work.

Beyond IAAC, Mohamed has been active with the Cassiopiea team and the IASC Campaign. In that work, Mohamed says they won best member and discovered candidate Astroid REG3333. Mohamed is also one of the main researchers in scientific research on analysing light curves for discovering black holes.

That research led to a paper titled Investigating Hidden Compact Objects through Light Curve Morphology and Citizen Science Classifications, which was published in the TEES Data Analysis Conference. Mohamed is currently a member of the Research and Development Track in the Cassiopiea team and has also been leader of the Astrophotography Camp with the same team.

Broadening technical skills

Mohamed’s experience reaches into coding, robotics and mechanical design. They are currently leading a team for the MRC competition in Greece and are a member of the GCI programme.

There is also training at the Egyptian Space Agency for making CANSAT, along with TOFAS examination qualifications where Mohamed says they got 100% in each one. Mohamed has entered NASA Space Apps 2025 and plans to enter again in 2026.

“Everything I have mentioned started with passion and love for space and engineering.”

For Mohamed, the pattern is clear. The work began with what they described as passion and love for space and engineering, and it has grown into research, competitions and team leadership. They say the aim is to reach a dream in space and benefit Egypt and the world.

Readers who want to follow a similar route could start with one clear interest, join a community project, then keep returning to competitions and research as skills grow.
