University of British Columbia Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program 2026/2027

The Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of British Columbia provides African students with access to a full university education at UBC, followed by support to develop leadership and contribute to development in their home countries. The program offers comprehensive funding and support for selected scholars to pursue master's study at UBC, with an emphasis on social impact and post-graduation return to Africa.

Tuition and books; Flights and immigration support; Room and board; Stipends for living expenses; Health Insurance; Career services and support; Access to a global Mastercard Foundation alumni network; Social Entrepreneurship Fund.

Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree, be a citizen or refugee of a Sub-Saharan African country, and meet the program’s criteria including leadership potential and commitment to returning to Africa after studies.

Submit an online application form, including CV, transcripts, two reference letters, and personal statements; follow the program’s rounds (EOI and faculty applications) as directed.
