European Parliament Sakharov Fellowship 2026

The European Parliament Sakharov Fellowship 2026 offers up to 14 human rights defenders from non-EU countries an opportunity to participate in a two-week intensive training program in Brussels and another EU location. The program provides an induction to EU policies, meetings with MEPs and EU officials, and workshops on advocacy, security, and documentation of human rights violations. Fellows become part of the Sakharov Community and are expected to share best practices and maintain connections with EU institutions after the programme.

Return travel from the country of residence, accommodation during the programme, and a daily living allowance.

Open to human rights defenders from non-EU countries; candidates should have a proven record in campaigning for human rights in an NGO or other organisation or in an individual capacity; they must have a high level of English.
