Vals AI Fellowship 2026

Fellows apply with a proposal for a new benchmark they want to build. If accepted, the fellowship provides time and support to design, implement, and validate that benchmark, with focus areas including AI evaluation, cybersecurity, finance, law, and other domains. Benefits include stipend, compute resources, mentorship, access to frontier APIs and internal evaluation infrastructure, workspace in San Francisco (optional), and networking with researchers at frontier labs.

Stipend, unlimited API credits and GPU budget, weekly mentorship, access to evaluation infrastructure, desk in San Francisco (if in-person), and networking with researchers.

Applicants should have a background in CS, ML, statistics, or a closely related field and be able to commit at least 20 hours per week; they consider applicants based on ideas and team, not only ML publications.
