FRIAS Sustainable Governance Senior Fellowship Programme for Researchers from Africa 2027/2028

The FRIAS Sustainable Governance Senior Fellowship Programme provides temporary fellowships for researchers from Africa to pursue independent projects at the University of Freiburg. Fellows gain access to the university’s resources and scholarly community, with financial support covering research costs and travel. The programme targets researchers with established doctoral credentials and a strong publication record, focusing on sustainable governance in the Humanities and Social Sciences.

Applicants must hold a completed doctoral degree, have at least eight years of post-doctoral experience, and possess five peer-reviewed publications since January 2017 (including at least one author). Applicants must be based in an African country and have international research experience.

Applicants must prepare and submit required documents via the online application portal, including project proposal, CV, publication list, PhD diploma, and a letter of cooperation from a Freiburg academic partner.
