ESA-FAIR Space Radiation School 2026 Scholarship

The ESA-FAIR Space Radiation School 2026 Scholarship is a fully funded summer school hosted in Darmstadt, Germany, focusing on space radiation research, physics and biology, with hands-on experience at GSI/FAIR facilities. It targets graduate-level researchers and early-career professionals to study cosmic radiation and its health and technical implications for future space missions. The program combines theory and practical lab work, including beamtime training and exposure to ESA, GSI, and FAIR research environments.

Full participation in the summer school, hotel accommodation, travel reimbursement for eligible students, access to ESA, GSI and FAIR research environments, hands-on lab teamwork, potential to develop and submit a space radiation experiment proposal, eligibility to apply for academic credit recognition.

The program is aimed at graduate-level researchers, with preference for students from ESA Member States; up to three students from non-ESA Member States may be accepted. Applicants should hold an MSc degree and be affiliated with a university, company, or research institute in a radiation-related field.
