DSI Summer Research Programs (Data Science for Social Impact Summer Experience and DSI Summer Lab)

The DSI Summer Research Programs are immersive, eight-week research experiences run by the University of Chicago Data Science Institute. They include the Data Science for Social Impact (DSSI) Summer Experience, an undergraduate program focused on ethical data science for social impact, and the DSI Summer Lab, which pairs undergraduate and high school students with DSI faculty mentors across multiple domains. Participants build technical data science skills, collaborate with mentors and peers, and present research at a concluding symposium.

Eight-week immersive research experience, technical skills bootcamp (DSSI two-week intensive), mentorship from faculty and postdocs, cohort social and professional development events, and a final symposium to present research.

Undergraduate students (DSSI: nominated by faculty from partner institutions) and undergraduate and high school students (DSI Summer Lab).
