Promotionsförderung der Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes

The Promotionsförderung der Studienstiftung supports excellent and highly motivated doctoral candidates with well above-average degrees and scientifically demanding dissertation projects. Approximately 300–350 doctoral students are newly admitted to the funding each year. The foundation also offers the Marianne-Plehn-Programm for doctoral fellows at Bavarian universities, allowing them to obtain a quarter-position and be based at a Bavarian state, church or state-recognised university. Since 2014 the Studienstiftung has awarded promotion prizes, with two prizes from 2014 and three from 2022 onwards.

Doctoral candidates with well above-average degrees and scientifically demanding dissertation projects; doctoral fellows at Bavarian universities are eligible for the Marianne-Plehn-Programm.

Applications are submitted during fixed call periods; the submission date is validated by postage stamp or matrix code. All complete applications received during a call enter selection; decisions are typically made in a committee meeting about seven months after the call opens.
