The Emmy Noether Groups „Methods of Artificial Intelligence“ is a DFG funding opportunity to establish and lead a research group in the development and advancement of AI methods. Successful applicants are funded to head an independent Emmy Noether research group for a period of six years to develop their research profile, increase international visibility and improve prospects for a permanent academic position. The call covers a broad range of AI-methods topics including machine learning, optimization, logic and reasoning, algorithmics, data analytics, knowledge representation and mathematical foundations.

Six years funding to lead an independent research group, salary with social insurance contributions, possible reimbursement of relocation costs to Germany, family support measures.

Requisitos

Postdoctoral researchers and holders of fixed-term junior or comparable qualifying professorships (W1/W2) in an early phase of their academic career are eligible; positive interim-evaluated junior professors and holders of comparable qualifying professorships are excluded. Applications are typically possible two to four years after the doctorate, with encouragement to apply already two years after the doctorate; childcare times are taken into account for the four-year limit.

Solicitud

Two-stage procedure: submit a written sketch (max five pages) for first-stage review; if positively evaluated, invited to submit a full proposal and give a personal presentation. Submission uses the DFG elan portal.
