Solution-oriented Research for Development (SOR4D)

The Solution-oriented Research for Development (SOR4D) programme funds transdisciplinary research projects that develop concrete, innovative solutions contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals and poverty reduction. It supports collaborations between researchers and practice partners in Switzerland and partner countries in the Global South. Projects must target systemic solutions across several SDGs and focus on themes such as peace and good governance, human development, climate and environment, and sustainable economic development. The research phase lasts three or four years and projects can apply for additional Transformation Accelerating Grants.

The programme supports researchers from Switzerland in collaboration with researchers and practice partners from partner countries in the Global South; it is open to all disciplines including humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, life sciences and health sciences.

Two-stage selection process (pre-proposal stage followed by full proposal); submit pre-proposals via the SNSF portal by the stated deadline.
