Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at the University of Cape Town

The Mastercard Foundation Scholarship at the University of Cape Town is a fully funded programme for African students to pursue an undergraduate or postgraduate taught degree at UCT, with comprehensive support including mentorship, leadership development, academic and life-skills support, career development, and entrepreneurship training. Recipients are expected to engage in community-improvement projects and participate in activities offered by UCT. The programme targets academically talented African youth facing significant social and economic barriers to higher education and requires applicants to first secure admission to UCT before applying for the scholarship.

Full financial support for studies, mentorship, leadership development, academic and life-skills support, career development and entrepreneurship training, opportunities to engage in community-improvement projects, and access to UCT experiences and a lifelong network of changemakers.

Citizens of African countries, including South Africa, may apply. Applicants must be applying for their first bachelor’s degree or an eligible taught postgraduate programme at UCT.

First submit an academic application to the University of Cape Town, then submit a separate application for the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship via the UCT Mastercard Foundation portal.
