Promotiebeurs voor leraren, 2e ronde 2025

The Promotiebeurs voor leraren is a grant enabling teachers to undertake a PhD research project while continuing classroom duties. The scheme finances the appointment of a replacement for up to five years to allow the teacher to pursue a doctorate. Applications may cover any research topic provided the applicant explains the relevance to their own teaching practice or to education more broadly. Proposals are assessed by a cross-discipline committee and shortlisted candidates are invited for interview.

Appointment of a replacement for up to five years covering half of the applicant's contract (maximum 0.4 FTE), enabling time to complete a PhD while teaching duties continue.

Teachers in primary, secondary, vocational (mbo), higher professional (hbo) and special education with a permanent appointment and employed by an educational institution funded by the Dutch government may apply.

Submit an application via the ISAAC application system using the provided forms; applications are reviewed by a committee, top candidates are invited for interview and a promotor statement and employer declaration are required.
