American University Human Rights Essay Award 2025

The Human Rights Essay Award is an annual award sponsored by the Academy on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, affiliated with American University, encouraging the production of academic articles in international human rights law. Two awards are granted, one for the best article in English and one for the best article in Spanish, each consisting of a full tuition scholarship to the Program of Advanced Studies on Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (travel, housing and per diem not included). Eligible submissions may be published in the American University International Law Review. The topic for 2025 is Human Trafficking and Human Rights.

Applicant must hold a law degree (JD, LL.B., or equivalent) and have demonstrated experience or interest in international human rights law; submissions must relate to the 2025 topic, Human Trafficking and Human Rights.
