African Democracy Essay Award 2024

The African Democracy Essay Award is an annual essay writing initiative hosted by the Centre for Research on Democracy (CREDO) at Stellenbosch University. It invites undergraduate students in South Africa (including foreign nationals) to submit an essay addressing a key issue related to democracy in Africa. Winners receive an honorarium and a publication opportunity, contributing to the student’s CV and academic profile.

Honorarium for publication of their essay on a partnering platform (R5,000, R3,000 or R2,000) and enhancement to their CV.

Open to undergraduate students at any South African university, including foreign nationals.
