The Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy in Greece Prize 2026

The Kofi Annan NextGen Democracy Prize is awarded annually to a young leader aged 18 to 30 and presented at the Athens Democracy Forum. It recognises leadership in defending and promoting democracy and aims to inspire youth engagement in democratic processes. The winner and finalists are connected with opportunities to engage in further events and mentorships.

Winner receives 10,000 USD and one-year mentorship with a democracy expert, plus travel and accommodation to the Athens Democracy Forum. The winner and nine finalists receive fully funded participation to the One Young World Summit Cape Town with travel and hotel accommodations, lifelong network membership, and opportunities to present work at international forums. Finalists also gain additional mentorship opportunities and access to One Young World events.

Applicants must be aged 18–30 at the time of application, demonstrate leadership, and be willing and able to participate in public activities at the Athens Democracy Forum and One Young World Summit 2026. Applications must be submitted in English and include a letter of support.

Applicants should review the prize overview and eligibility, prepare a short video and letter of support, complete the application form in English, and ensure all sections are filled in. The form must be submitted in one sitting; incomplete applications are disqualified.
