MTA Vendégkutatói Program

The MTA Vendégkutatói Program is a fellowship to invite internationally outstanding foreign researchers for joint research at Hungarian research groups and institutions for a period of 3–6 months. Host research groups must belong to the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network, Hungarian higher education institutions or eligible Hungarian public collections or institutions. Selected visiting researchers participate under an employment or commission contract and the research must be completed by 2026-12-31.

Monthly financial support up to 2.5 million HUF (gross) covering personnel and related costs; employment or commission contract at the host during the stay; possible logistical and administrative support from the host.

Host applications must be submitted by leaders of research groups at institutions belonging to the HUN-REN network, Hungarian higher education institutions or eligible Hungarian public collections/institutions in cooperation with the invited researcher. Invited researchers must hold a scientific degree, be internationally outstanding and not be resident in Hungary at the time of application.

Contact between the inviting principal investigator and the candidate; prepare a joint 3–6 month research plan; the visiting researcher fills and signs the application form and sends it to the inviting PI; host head and host economic officer sign the declarations; submit the completed application via the electronic application system and post any required paper documents by the postal deadline.
