Mandela Rhodes Scholarships 2028

The Mandela Rhodes Scholarships provide full postgraduate financial support plus a leadership development program for African citizens to pursue Honours or Masters degrees at South African universities. Scholars join a cohort of young African changemakers and participate in residential leadership workshops. The award covers tuition, living allowances, travel, and related study costs.

Full tuition and registration fees; allowances for study materials, research, and medical aid; accommodation and meals; personal allowance; economy class travel to and from South Africa; participation in leadership development workshops.

Applicants must be citizens of an African country, aged 19–29 in the year of application, hold an undergraduate degree with excellent results, and be able to study at postgraduate level in English.

Apply online via the Mandela Rhodes Foundation application portal between 9 March and November 2027 for the Class of 2028.
