University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF)

The University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship (UMGF) is a merit-based fellowship offered to full-time Master’s and PhD students to recognize academic excellence. It supports outstanding students who have demonstrated strong intellectual ability and scholarly achievement. The award provides substantial funding to successful applicants over the program period.

Financial support to cover tuition and research-related needs; duration aligns with degree progress (Master’s up to 24 months, PhD up to 48 months; total maximum per student up to 4 years).

Applicants must be admitted to a full-time Master’s or PhD program at the University of Manitoba, meet a minimum GPA (often 3.0, though departments may set higher), demonstrate strong research potential and academic excellence, maintain full-time registration, progress satisfactorily, and not hold another award of equal or greater value during the fellowship period.
