Summer Undergraduate Research Program

The Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at the Vilcek Institute of Graduate Biomedical Sciences / NYU Grossman School of Medicine places qualified college students in faculty laboratories for a full-time summer research internship in biomedical disciplines. Participants are matched with a lab and engage in hands-on research, journal clubs, seminars, and career panels. Accepted students receive a stipend, free housing, and reimbursement for round-trip travel.

$5,000 stipend; free housing; reimbursement for round-trip travel; opportunities to present research at NYU Langone and the Leadership Alliance National Symposium; seminar and mentoring activities.

Open to U.S. citizens and permanent residents who are undergraduates having completed their sophomore or junior year and who have completed at least one full semester of bench laboratory research.

Apply through NYU Grossman School of Medicine application channels; placement based on mentor availability and fit, selection via evaluation of research experience, academic record, and letters of recommendation.
