Sobre esta oportunidad
A two-week practical observing school run by ESO at the premises in Santiago de Chile and at the La Silla Observatory. Participants get hands-on experience in the full cycle of astronomical observations including planning, observing with 3–4 metre professional telescopes, and data reduction and analysis under the guidance of experienced tutors. The science projects are defined and supervised by the tutors. The school is primarily aimed at PhD students in Astronomy, with late-stage MSc students also considered.
Beneficios y financiación
Lodging in Santiago and at La Silla (specified dates), travel between Santiago and La Silla, breakfast and lunch in Santiago during the school, full board at La Silla Observatory, hands-on observing and data-reduction training; limited exceptional financial support may be available.
Requisitos
Primarily meant for PhD students in Astronomy with little or no observing experience; MSc students in the late stages of their thesis will also be considered.
