Australian Mathematical Olympiad

The Australian Mathematical Olympiad (AMO) is a multi-stage mathematics examination programme for school students. It comprises distinct competitions (AMO Summer, AMO Winter and AMO Finals) held across 2026 to select students for regional Schools of Excellence, mentoring programs and further national training. Each stage uses multi-question, multi-hour exam papers administered at schools or AMT-organised exam hubs.

Selection pathway to Autumn/Spring Schools of Excellence, State Director mentoring programs, and eligibility for later AMO Finals and national training.

Students in year 11 or below in 2026 are eligible for invitation; specific invitations are given to students who attended the AMOC School of Excellence in November 2025, the Autumn School of Excellence in April, or who participated in the Australian Training Tournament (ATT) in relevant months.

Students are invited via their schools; schools will be notified of invited students (notifications in January 2026). Registration for competitions is managed through the AMT competitions portal.
