AHSS Summer School 2026

A three-week international summer school at Queen's University Belfast introducing students to the historical, cultural, political, environmental and socio-economic contexts of Northern Ireland. Week 1 comprises a core module with field trips around Belfast and Derry-Londonderry, while Weeks 2 and 3 allow participants to choose one of several specialist streams (Identity & Intergroup Relations; Irish Studies; Creative Writing; International Relations & Diplomacy). The programme includes campus orientation, engagement with local communities and visits to political, historical and cultural sites.

Tuition, ensuite accommodation for 21 nights, welcome and farewell meals, field trips

Students must have completed a minimum of one year of university/college study prior to the Summer School, be at least 18 years old by the start of the programme, have a minimum GPA of 2.7, provide a referee/referral contact from a global education/study abroad office or professor, and be competent in written and spoken English. The page also includes a separate US-specific eligibility list requiring US citizenship, a US passport, minimum GPA 3.6 and other conditions for a US-focused award.

Applications opened 13 October 2025 and close 31 March 2026; applicants apply through Queen's Summer School application process and, if offered a place, must pay a £300 deposit within two weeks (payment deadline listed).
