UNDEF Project Grants

The United Nations Democracy Fund (UNDEF) invites civil society organisations and NGOs to apply for project grants to advance democracy, human rights, and participation in democratic processes. UNDEF will support two-year projects, with priority given to local civil society organisations and to areas including civic engagement for climate action, rule of law and human rights, media freedom, women leadership, youth engagement, interaction with government, and electoral processes (with a focus on elections scheduled for mid-2026 at the earliest). Grants range between US$100,000 and US$200,000.

Funding for project implementation (grants of US$100,000–US$200,000) to support democracy-related activities.

Civil society organisations and non-governmental organisations engaged in promoting democracy; independent and constitutional bodies; global and regional inter-government bodies and associations other than the United Nations.

Proposals must be submitted online in English or French.
