UN OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship Program 2026

The UN OHCHR Indigenous Fellowship Program provides allocated training for indigenous individuals to learn about the UN system and human rights mechanisms, with a focus on indigenous issues. The programme runs for four weeks in Geneva and is aligned with the annual session of the Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. Fellows from all language components train together with simultaneous interpretation.

Indigenous candidates, including women, LGBTQI+ individuals, and persons with disabilities, are encouraged to apply; candidate must be proposed by their indigenous organization and have good working knowledge of the language of instruction.

Fellowship applications must be fully completed, with both parts I and II of the application form, and include an official recommendation letter from the nominating Indigenous organization or community.
