The KU Leuven Global Minds Doctoral Scholarship Programme is a flagship initiative enabling talented PhD candidates from developing countries, with a strong focus on Africa, to conduct doctoral research jointly at KU Leuven and their home institution under a sandwich model. The programme funds a split PhD where approximately 50% of research takes place at KU Leuven in Belgium and 50% at the scholar's home institution, and the KU Leuven PhD degree is awarded by KU Leuven. It accepts research proposals across all academic disciplines and is cohort-based with a competitive selection process.
