The International Astronomy Olympiad (IAO) is an annual international competition in astronomy for school students, founded by the Euro-Asian Astronomical Society (EAAS). It aims to develop astronomy education, spread astronomical knowledge and foster international contacts in school astronomy and physics. The Olympiad is held each year in an astronomical centre of one of the member states and features several age groups of schoolchildren competing as individuals and in national teams. Participants compete for ranked prizes (I, II, III) and medals.
