The Physics Innovators Initiative (Pi2) Summer Scholars Program funds undergraduate students to perform full-time summer research, develop experimental and analytical skills, and build scientific independence. Each scholar works closely with a graduate student mentor, attends PI2 events, and completes a written report and departmental poster presentation at the end of the summer. The program uses a two-stage application process including project selection and a mentor-mentee full proposal.

Conditions d'éligibilité
Physics track undergraduate students currently enrolled at UC Berkeley with a minimum 3.0 GPA, able to commit to full-time research for at least eight weeks during the summer; visiting, study abroad, or UC Berkeley extension students are not eligible.
Candidature
Two-stage process: Stage 1 (due Feb 17, 2026) — submit up to three project choices with brief motivations via the Stage 1 application form; selected applicants will work with mentors. Stage 2 (due Mar 25, 2026) — mentor and mentee submit a full application including a mentorship plan, research proposal, and leadership/personal statements.
