Joint Doctor of Public Health (DrPH)

The Joint Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) is a competitive, cohort-based doctoral programme offered jointly by San Diego State University (SDSU) and the University of California San Diego (UC San Diego). The programme prepares graduates for leadership in public health research, policy, and practice through advanced coursework, applied research, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The intake for this cohort is Fall 2027. Successful candidates receive comprehensive financial support and access to the combined research resources of both universities.

The programme is open to domestic and international applicants who meet admission requirements. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in public health or a closely related field; a master’s degree is preferred but not mandatory. Applicants must meet English language proficiency requirements where applicable.

Applicants must submit two separate applications: SOPHAS (Schools of Public Health Application Service) and Cal State Apply (SDSU Graduate Application). Both applications and supporting documents must be submitted before the stated deadlines.
