The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program provides awards to eligible undergraduate students to support credit-bearing study or internship programs abroad. Awards assist students with financial need to participate in approved programs and can include supplemental funding for critical-need language study, STEM-related programs, or qualifying military dependents. Successful applicants may receive funding to help cover eligible costs associated with their international education experience.
Avantages
Up to $5,000 toward study-abroad or internship costs; possible supplemental awards (up to $3,000 critical-need language, up to $1,000 STEM); separate Gilman-McCain $5,000 award for eligible military dependents.
Conditions d'éligibilité
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals, receive a Federal Pell Grant at the time of application or while participating, and participate in an undergraduate credit-bearing study or internship program located in a destination with a U.S. Department of State Travel Advisory Level 1 or 2. Separate eligibility rules apply for the Gilman-McCain award for eligible children and spouses of active-duty or activated U.S. military personnel.
Candidature
Applicants apply through the official Gilman Scholarship application system; UC Davis students may use campus advising resources (Global Learning Hub and Financial Aid and Scholarships) for application support.
