AMS Young Scholars Program

The AMS Young Scholars Program provides grants to summer mathematics programs for high school students in the United States. It supports multi-week immersive programs directed by mathematicians that serve at least 20 mathematically talented high school students. Grants are awarded to program organisers to help run programs that may focus on problem solving, mathematical research, or other areas of mathematics. Funding amounts vary by award year.

Monetary grants to support running summer mathematics programs (award amounts vary and have ranged from $2,500 to $15,000).

Applications are accepted only from program directors. Eligible programs must have at least one year of prior operation, be located in the United States, run multiple weeks during the summer (typically May–September), bring in at least 20 high school students, and be directed by mathematicians.

Program directors submit an annual grant application (opens in November, closes in January); past applicants must submit a new application each year.
