The Gentner-Kastler Prize and Medal is a joint award of the Deutsche Physikalische Gesellschaft (DPG) and the Société Française de Physique (SFP) presented for outstanding contributions to physics. The prize is awarded annually in alternate years to a physicist whose centre of living and work is in Germany or France. The award comprises a silver medal, a certificate and prize money of 3,000 EUR. Presentation normally takes place at the host society's main meeting.

Conditions d'éligibilité
Physicists living and working in the country of the nominating society (France or Germany); nominations are not restricted to members of either society.
Candidature
Candidates are nominated by the council of the nominating society; not later than six months before presentation the nominating society submits two or three names and citations to the host society, which makes the final choice.
