Weave Lead Agency Procedure (Weave) — DFG–HRZZ Collaboration

The Weave Lead Agency Procedure (Weave) is a funding mechanism enabling closely integrated collaborative research proposals involving researchers from two to three European countries or regions. A single coordinating applicant submits a joint proposal to a participating funder (the Lead Agency), which conducts the review and communicates funding recommendations to the Partner Agencies. The DFG will apply the Weave procedure together with the Croatian Science Foundation (HRZZ); funded projects are supported by each organisation for the researchers for whom it is responsible according to their respective funding rules.

Project funding provided by the respective funding organisations for each participating team's component, subject to positive assessment and approval by the involved funders.

Researchers from two up to three European countries or regions may submit joint proposals; all applicants must meet the eligibility requirements of their respective Weave signatory organisation.

A coordinating applicant submits the joint proposal to the chosen Lead Agency which conducts the review. For DFG-led proposals register in the elan portal before submission (allow at least three working days); if HRZZ is Lead Agency, follow HRZZ call details and submit a copy and required documents to DFG within seven days of submission to the Lead Agency.
