Funding for Research Stays Abroad for Doctoral and Postdoctoral Fellows

A grant scheme that provides funding for research stays abroad for doctoral and postdoctoral research fellows affiliated with ongoing projects funded by the Research Council of Norway. Stays may be between 3 and 12 months and can be divided into shorter periods if applied for together. The scheme covers specified costs related to the stay and aims to increase international research experience and networks. Applications are submitted by the Project Manager of the main project.

Support for stay abroad (3–12 months), coverage of travel (one departure and one return), visa fees, documented tuition fees and fees for the stay abroad.

Research fellows who are wholly or partly funded (at least 50%) by the Research Council and affiliated with ongoing projects where an approved Norwegian research organisation is the Project Owner; project managers for Researcher Projects for Early Careers/Young Talents/Young Research Talents funded by FRIPRO; industrial PhD and public sector PhD where the company or public sector entity is the Project Owner in collaboration with the degree-conferring research organisation.

The Project Manager of the main project submits an application via the Research Council application portal including the period of stay, progress plan, budget and project description; the research fellow's employment in the main project must be reported before applying.
