Fulbright Scholarships for Research and Doctoral Studies with the Support of the FCT for 2026/2027

The Fulbright Portugal scholarships for research and for doctoral studies, with support from the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT), target doctoral fellows funded by FCT and plan to conduct a period of research in a United States university or research center. The research scholarship lasts four to nine consecutive months and cannot start before 2026-09-15. The doctoral scholarship is for students who will attend, full-time, the first year of a PhD program at a US-accredited university and offers funding up to $40,000 for the first year. The scholarships are open to Portuguese nationals and the application deadline is 2026-01-15.

Open to Portuguese nationals; for the research scholarship, doctoral fellows funded by FCT planning a research period in the US; for the doctoral scholarship, students entering the first year of a PhD program in the US.
